The Beat Frequency Calculator finds the beats heard when two tones of nearly equal pitch sound together: the beat frequency |f₁ − f₂|, the beat period between loudness peaks, and the average (carrier) frequency (f₁ + f₂)/2 that the ear perceives. Identical frequencies are reported as unison with no beats. Both frequencies must be positive. Handy for instrument tuning and acoustics coursework.
